Heit's Point

One of the ministries our church enjoys and supports is a Lutheran camp located about 100 miles away in Lincoln, MO. Started in the early 80's, built on donated land, it includes all the things campers need  -- cabins and campgrounds, a pool, lake access with boating, even horses and a lovely outdoor chapel.

Ascension members built a pavilion called the "Ascension Haus" which adds to the setting.  Throughout the year, groups often hold retreats at the camp - near enough and yet far enough away to make it a great weekend getaway.

Raytown Summer Lunch Ministry

God is at work in this ministry and through His people at Ascension. We're donating around $2400 to the ministry. 11 people have committed to being delivery drivers, covering the 5+ weeks of lunch delivery and more have said they'll go to the church to help pack lunches.

Some background on this ministry: Raytown School District (where we're located) is a Title I district meaning a significant number of children get meals at free or reduced rates due to low income levels. Children can get breakfast AND lunch during the school year, along with lunch during summer school but there's a gap in the weeks between the end of summer school and the start of the new year. This ministry helps close the gap by preparing and delivering about 12,000 sack lunches to area children each weekday.

Missouri District Disaster Relief

As you watch the news coverage of the devastating floods and recent tornadoes, consider this: summer just started. With more rain on the way, one thing is clear: things are going to get worse before they get better. However, there's good news. Across the Missouri District, people are finding comfort in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and assistance in what may be one of the scariest times of their lives. The district is leaning on our network of circuit visitors to discover the needs of congregations and people in real time. Disaster relief donations are being distributed to churches in the impacted areas so they can serve their communities. You, too, can be the reason someone moves from despair to hope. Please prayerfully consider taking a special door offering in the coming weeks to support the Missouri District disaster relief efforts. We can assist people not only in the moment after the unthinkable happens, but in the future as well.                                          Donations may be sent to:

The Missouri District LCMS
660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, Suite 300
St. Louis, MO 63141

Is anyone at your congregation interested in going through Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT) training? Call the Missouri District office at 314-590-6200 for more details.                                                                                     Thank you again for showing Christ's mercy and keeping everyone in your prayers. God's blessings!
